As part of the Operations team this role is responsible for controlling and operating the Maltings and / or the Roasting Operation to produce malt according to our quality specifications, within the planned cycle time.

The role is varied; the operator must adhere to good manufacturing practices and have an acute awareness of Health and Safety demonstrating behaviours that considers their own safety and that of others. Duties include controlling the plant, taking samples and making quality checks of the process and undertaking cleaning activities.

Operators are at the front line of our Operational Excellence programme (BOPEX) and will be involved in our drive to continually improve our safety, quality and efficiencies.

Our production is continuous and runs 24 hours, 365 days of the year. The operator must be flexible and able to work a 12 hour shift pattern that includes nights, days weekends and public holidays. These are relief operator roles and so flexibility is a essential requirement of the position to cover operator holidays and other occasions when the team needs cover.


The person we are looking for is self motivated, proactive and has high standards of work. Communication skills are important as there is regular interaction with other operators and on-shift engineers. Experience of a similar industry or manufacturing operations is an advantage.
